Boarding

In addition to medical, dental, and surgical care, Family Pet Health Care offers safe and secure boarding facilities with veterinary supervision and individualized attention from our staff of animal lovers. We want your pets to be healthy, happy, and comfortable when they board with us, so we treat them as if they were our own. If you live in Decatur, Tanner, Athens, Trinity, or another nearby community, and you need a home away from home for your four-legged friends, bring your babies to us, and we’ll take good care of them for you. When you board with us, you can have peace of mind while you’re away knowing that your pets are safe and well cared for.

At Family Pet Health Care, we offer clean and secure boarding facilities that accommodate both dogs and cats. We maintain separate areas for our canine and feline friends to ensure a stress-free stay for all visitors. Large and small dogs are accommodated with indoor kennels complete with bedding, blankets, and toys. Dogs are walked 3-4 times a day so they can attend to business and have outdoor time in our play area. Every feline lodger has a roomy condo with a perching area. Our feline friends receive individualized attention at least twice a day, and they are supplied with cozy beds, blankets and litter boxes. Ask about additional fun activities that we offer to keep your pets entertained.

We provide Purina Pro Plan EN Gastroenteric kibble to all boarding guests, however pet owners are encouraged to bring food from home. Our staff monitors the appetite and urination/bowel movements of each boarded pet, and our veterinarians will be alerted if any problems are noted.

To safeguard your pet’s health and the health of others that are in our care, we require all boarding guests to be current on the following vaccines: Canine Influenza (CIV), Rabies (RV), Bordetella (BPV), Distemper, Infectious Hepatitis, Adenovirus, Parvovirus and Parainfluenza (DHPP).

Similar to hotel policies, our pick-up and drop-off times during business hours are scheduled to allow us to thoroughly sanitize and prepare each area for your pet’s well-being and comfort:

Check-In Times: Monday - Friday 1 pm - 4 pm
Check-Out Times: Monday - Friday 8 am - 11 am

To accommodate pet parents who want to pick up their pets on the weekend, we have established a time on Saturday and Sunday between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm. These pick-up times must be scheduled ahead of time and must be pre-paid.

Weekend Pick-Up Only: Saturday & Sunday 6 pm- 7 pm

Please call today to make a boarding reservation at Family Pet Health Care. We recommend booking a spot in advance since we tend to fill up quickly during holidays and popular vacation times.

  • “I took my dog, Waylan, here and was referred to Dr. Berschneider who Waylan loved immensely. She worked on his back alignment as well as acupuncture. She soon diagnosed him with a torn ACL and he went on to have surgery. She found the cause of his pain by listening to him when several other doctor offices wrote it off as minor unrelated issues. I have been to 3 different vets and this is the only one that took his discomfort seriously and found the cause of the problem.”
